THIRD ©AY,
The following is the conclusion of our report'of yesterday's coursing : After a long delay hare hunting, Richmond and Hock commenced the run off 6f the first ties in the Yice-President's Plate, Richmond!, led up to the hare, wrenched, and billed before. Hock : could get in. Calceolaria and Chevy Chase had a short sharp course. The former led lip for a short distance, but the ploughed, up=-hill ground was too , heavy for Mr. M'Donald's young slut, and Chevy Chase quickly passed her, and; doing; a little work, won the course. . Reflection and Malice had a long but unsatisfactory run, losing the hare in the high grass. The result was a no course. Minnie and Queen of the Seas followed with an undecided course, the judge gettfng stuck in a bog. Reflection and TVEalice had a nice fiourse. Reflection showed the greatest speed, and leading, up made a wrench or two and. killed, Minnie and Queen of the Seas had a fine long oourse. Queen of the Seas led up, but at the back of the hill Minnie got in and had the course all her own way. This finished the first ties for the "Vice-President's Plate.,
The third ties of the Derby were started by lifyoplodendron and Miranda, The course wag a very expiting one. Miranda led up and scored freely until the Tokomairiro dog. got in and scored a.point or two. He did not hold possession long, for Miranda again passed him, and dispatched the hare, winning a very fine course. - Mr. M'Donald having two dogs meeting drew Phlox , Drummondii, and Cinprsris then ran a bye. Richmond; and Chevy Chase commenced thp run off of the Becond ties for the. Vice-Presidents' Plate. The former repeated the tactics which proved so successful against Hock, leading up to the hare, scoring a wrench; and killing before Chevy Chase could getin. Reflection and Mmhie were then put in the slips, but darkness set in before a hare qould be and tho conclusion of the meeting was postponed until this morning, •; FOURTH DAY. . Only a very small.number of sportsmen met at Awamoa Estate .this morning to the run off of the final events; Jt was somewhat after the appointed time before a start was made, and even then: a large amount of time was' wasted through the miserable beating. Here we may mention that throughout the -meeting the beating has been an'ything but satisfactory, and there was a waiit of proper organisar tioti. This had the eflect of marring in a i-ifj-y y !•!•:•;! gpnrl, prolopgt ..<•>1,(1.. -.-iiiu,.-. i.«:y. t" 1 " it> Inf i

the first day. There was some good sport, and not a single thing occurred to mar the pleasure of the meeting. The jcdging of Mr. Wise, the newly-appointed judge to the united Clubs, gave the very greatest satisfaction, and the Clubs are to be congratulated upon having secured the services of so competent a judge and so thoroughly well posted a coursing man. Mr. Turner was scarcely little less successful as slipper, and both gentlemen were fully deserving of the three cheers given to them" at the' conclusion of the meeting. To-day's proceedings were opened by Reflection and 1 Minnie running off ' the last of;,';the,' S sec9nd ties for the ' VicePresident's Plate. Reflection led up by two. lengths, turned, came round, and made the next three, before the two went over the rocks." The. course was then over so far as the judging was concerned, but the dogs still kept up to the hare, Reflection having still the best of the hunt. Then came the final course for the Derby stakes between Miranda and Cineraria. A large amount of time was, spent before a slip could be obtained, though a large, number of hares were raised and got away. At last the pair were sent away after a strong "hare,-and a beautiful course took place. Miranda led up by about three lengths, and took the first two turns out of the hare. Exchanges then' followed, during which both dogs did a large amount of 'work. Miranda then drew clear, and after taking two turns tripped.; •Cinneraria followed with a turn, and Miranda went away and made a kill, thus ending the struggle for the Derby very much in her fawor. She ran throughout the course well, while Cineraria rushed about, and did not work up to her form of the two previous days. After a little delay, Richmond ' and : Reflection were slippedjto a strong hare to settle the final, (course for the Vice-President's Plate, The former led up by several lengths, and toiok the first turn, but shortly afterwards gave place to Reflection, who seemed to run round the old dog, and won with a lot to spare, a grand course winding up with a good kill. This ended'the meeting.
