HAMPDEN ROAD BOARD.
9?he monthly meeting of the Hampden Road Board was held on the 6th inst. Present—Messrs. Culling (chair), Dunbar, Henderson, Gillies, Findlay, M'Kerrow, and Munroe. The minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed. . Mr, IVfunrp reported tjjat hp ha(l accompanied the Engineer, and pointed out to him the deviation bf road through Mr. Culling's property; the Clerk also reported that the Surveyor was surveying the different road lines in the district. A copy of a telegram sent to the Hon, the Minister of. Lands was read, "asking if the Board has power under ; section 6 Public Reserves Act, 1876, to issue timber licenses. Mr. Murcott asked to be informed, what amount of money had been received by the Board from the commonage. An application from Messrs Cague and Green was read, asking for district road from railway crossing to the Company s gate at the main north road to be formed and gravelled. It was resolved that' the surfaceman be employed to reduce the, gradient nekr the gate. : >' ' It was resolved: that fresh tenders be asked for the Board's advertisements. Moved by Mr. Munro, seconded by Mr. Gillies—That the Clerk call for tenders for road through Mr.' Oulling's property on receipt of* plans from Engineer ; and that the Sub-Committee be empowered to . open tenders and to act thereon. Moved by Mr. M'Kerrow, seconded byMr. Henderson—That the collector sue for all outstanding rates in the Hampden! Road District. Moved by Mr. Henderson, seconded by Mr. • Dunbar—That ' a Sub-Committe bo appointed, consisting of Messrs.' . Culling (chairman), Findlay; M'Kerrow, and.tho mover, to assist the Collector in suing for rates. Moved by Mr. M'Kerrow, seconded by Mr. Gillies—That the account of Thomas M'Cormack, surfaceman (L4l6s), be paid. Mr. Riddle - retires for Chalgrove subdivision, and Mr. Culling elected to po> out of office as member for the Chalfonfc sub-division. Moved by Mr. Henderson, seconded by Mr. Findlay—That Mr. 'M'Kerrow be appointed returning officer for the Chalgrovo and Wendover sub-divisions. Moved by Mr. M'Kerrow, seconded by Mr. Andrew—That Mr. Culling be appotnted returning officer for the Chalfont sub-division. After a vote of thanks to the Chairman, the meeting closed.
