It was ultimately resolved, on the motion of Mr. Hamilton, seconded by Mr. Mainland, " That a Committee be formed of tho officers, with power to add to their number, to call at, the Insurance Offices and ask them to defray the cost of the purchase of casks, and the,expenses of filling them in tho most expeditious manner, a •report to be made at the next meeting." Some discussion then took place with reference to cleaning the engine and, gear after "a fire, and it was resolved, on the motion of Captain Sinclair, seconded by Mr. Rowland, to writo to the Municipal Council asking that a dayman might be appointed to clean the engine and gear after a fire or practice.
