♦ LATEST HOME AND FOREIGN NEWS. [REUTER'S TELEGRAMS—PER PRESS AGENCY.] Calcutta, Nov. 2G. Dacca has been occupied unopposed. The head men of the Kura and Khibar villages are offering their services. Supplies have arrived from all sides. The native contingent will shortly rendezvous at Lahore, when their future destination will be settled. The Maharajah of Ashmee is desirous to send a contingent with the invading army, but it is considered a great service that he should watch the Afghan border contiguous to his frontier. The Ali Musjid prisoners at Peshawur, consisting of rank and file, will probably be dismissed, and the officers treated according to the customs of European warfare. (SPECIAL TO PRESS AGENCY.) London, November 26. The steamer Pomerania, from New York to Hamburg, collided with a barque off Folkestone at midnight. The steamer sank in ten minutes. Two hundred persons were drowned, and one hundred and seventeen saved. DIRECT AUSTRALIAN NEWS. ! (RKUTEIt'fI TELEGRAMS, PKR PRESS AGENCY.) Sydney. November 27. The strike continues at Sydney, Brisbane, and Newcastle. Efforts at mediation have failed. Three Chinese crews are now discharging and loading the company's vessels. The latest New Caledonia news states that a terrible massacre of eleven whites took place at the mouth of the River Poya. A party engaged in the carriage of provisions to the troops found the bodies cut up and cooked. The party were fired upon by the rebels. A further massacre has been reported, but particulars are wanting. A large number of troops have arrived at Noumea during the month. November 28. The Government has intimated its willingness, provided Parliament approves, to assume the control of the Exhibition, should the Agricultural Society find the same assume proportions beyond its powers. Adelaide, November 27. The Council has rejected the Land and Property Tax Bill. The Assembly has read the Loan Bill a third time.
