A letter was read from the Secretary to the Education Department, requesting the Committee to forward to the Hon. the Minister for Education a list of youths over 10 years whom they rocommeud to lill such vacancies as cadets in the Civil Service. Some discussion took place upon the subject, more particularly as to whether or not the Committee should forward the names of youths educated in schools not under the control of the Committee. The resignation of Master David Wallace was accepted, and ordered to bo forwarded to the Education Hoard. It was decided to recommend the .Board to ap-point-Miss Kate Buick to lill the vacancy. The cause of Master Wallace's resignation was tailing eyesight. The plans and specifications* for works at the Rectory were submitted and approved, and the Secretary was instructed to tfrito asking the Board to advertise for tenders in Oamaru ; tenders to be forwarded to the Committee before being accepted, for its advice thereon. Mr. Rice drew attention to the omission: from the specification of work to be done at South School of several small repairs required to be carried out.
