♦ The quarterly meeting of tho above Committee was held last evening at tin office of the Secretary. Present—Messrs Gibbs (in the chair), Barclay, Clowes, Liddell, Evans, Fleming, and the SeciY tary (Mr. J. Hardy). Mr. Thorntor, (Rector of the Grammar School), am: Mr. Rice (master of tho South School were also present. MINUTES. Thornton said that Master Spence having left the Grammar School, had for feited the Scholarship, and he (the Rector had therefore awarded it to the nox highest boy remaining in the school Cecil Sloore. Mr. Fleming moved, "That Mis Flamanck be recommended to the Educs tion Board for appointment to the Nort: School as pupil te;lcher." The motion having been seconded, \va agreed to. SALARY OF SOUTH SCHOOL MISTRESS. Mr. Fleming moved, "That shouldtli Education Board sanction the appoint ment of a mistress for the South School advertisements should bo inserted in tli papers inviting applications for the pus: tion, the salary to be lixed at L 1.25." The motion was seconded by Mr. Evans and carried. SOUTH SCHOOL. On the motion of Mr. Flkmi.no seconded by Mr. Liddli;, it was resolved, "That the Secretary write to the Educii' tion Board,, and apply that the Soul! School be raised to the status of a DiS' trict School." SEVERN-STREET FOOTPATH. On the motion of Mr. Evans, it wai resolved, "That the Secretary write ti the Municipal Council, drawing attention to the disgraceful state of the footpaths it Severn-street, from Coquet-street to tin bridge, and that the Chairman be ru quested to use his influence in the Council to have the matter remedied at once." ACCOUNTS. A number of accounts were passed for payment, and the meeting terminated.
