ORIGINAL CORRESPONDENCE.

o [We wish it to be most distinctly understood that w< are not responsible i'orthu opinions expressed byoui correspondents. J A COMPLAINT. TO TJIE EDITOR OK TIJI3 EVENING MAIL. Sir, —I think the attention of the authorities should be called to the very unsafe way the crane used in building ttie hotel in Tyne-street is left at night. On Monday.night last the handle was left 011, so as nearly to cover the footpath at that point. I just saw it in time to prevent a collision, as it is not easy to see a thin piece of iron in the dark. It might occasion a serious accident. The footpath is also left with stones of all sizes covering it. It may be lawful here to leave main thoroughfares in this state at night time, but I never saw it done anywhere else—unless a footpath was provided on tlifi outside.—Yours, &c. Waiuate.
