THE WATER RACES.
Hokitika, May 23.
The Minister of Public Works, in reply to a communication from the Chairman of the Westland County Council, has intimated that the Government are prepared
to hand over to the County the Mikonui and Wiamea water-races and the unexpended balances of sums voted by Parliament for these races, provided the County undertakes all future liabilities in connection with these works.
