SPECIAL TELEGRAMS.
(from OUR OWN correspondent. ) * Dunedin, Tuesday. MR. GEORGE DARRELL'S NEW PLAY. George DarrelTs new play '' Trans, ported for Life" was produced at the Queen's last night, and proved to be a work of considerable merit. It will probably run for a week. LONDON WOOL MARKET. A cablegram from Schwartze and Co., under date August 11, to Cargills, Gibbs, and Co., states that 380,000 bales of wool were catalogued ; the bulk sold very low, but during the last fortnight the market had very firm prices. For greasy, an average rise of Id. to l|d. ; in washed fleece, an average of lid. to 2d. ; in scoured, an average rise of 2d. Compared with the low rates at present, a rise is unexpected. Stability is doubtful.
