Wheat, prime quality, commands up to 4s. 9d., but veiy little of this description offering ; good ordinary, from 4s. 6d. to 4s. 7d. ; inferior and medium, 4s. to 4s. 2d. Barley inquired for, but few sales effected, only very low prices offering. Oats in better request, but quotations without improvement ; sales made of • good feed at Is. 9d. ; holders now ask Is. lid. Bluff, Saturday. The following news was brought by the Arawata, which arrived at the Bluff to-day : AUSTRALIAN NEWS. Melbourne, July 17. The proceedings in Parliament have so far been very mild, and the Address in Reply was carried without a division, after veiy little discussion. New Electoral and Education Bills have been introduced. Tne Government is negotiating with the Hobson's Bay Railway Company for the purchase of the line. The body of Captain Cooper, of thebarque Armistice, well-known in the New Zealand trade, was found in the Yarra, having probably fallen into the river when leaving his ship. About £l5O has been subscribed for Dr. Van Hemert's orphans at Dunedin. Further subscriptions are being received. The mail steamer grounded on leaving Adelaide, but got off in a few hours. Our rainfall this year was seven inches below the average. Same in all the Australian Colonies. This, coupled with the great fall in tha price of fine wool, is not a hopeful sign for squatters. The weather is magnificent, but it is very cold, clear, with dense fogs at night.
