TO THE EDITOR OF THE EVENING MAIL. Sik,—A great deal has been written about .larrikinism in the gallery of our Masonic Hall lately, perhaps not without some cause. Last night a person aspiring to be a gentleman—a new comer amongst us—brought a beil into the reserved seats, with which he thoroughly succeeded in mystifying the performers, and annoying the audience. Sin,—l was at the play last night, at the Masonic Hall, and think, with my mates, that a policeman might be placed amongst them half-swells in the front seats. There was one with a bell, surrounded by his pals, doing all he could to annoy the whole house. If it had occurred in the gallery, we should have had some more letters about it; but, as it was gentlemen, of course no notice will be taken of it.—l am, &c, Gallery. Sir,—May I, through your columns, ask the gentleman who was kind enough to enliven the audience at the Masonic Hall on Friday evening with variations on the bells not to do it again. It may have been funny, but it was certainly ridiculous—at all events, it was not in the programme,— l am, &c, Qua e La.
