GOING BETTER
Derby Winner Improves
(From "N.Z. Truth's" Christchurch Rep.) On his running m the Banks Peninsula Cup, Red Heckle's St. Leger prospects were considerably dimmed, TN the .interim, however, he has worked on satisfactorily, though m a recent trial at Riccarton with Nightmarch he was decisively beaten. Nightmarch, however, is m particularly good heart at present, whereas Red Heckle has had only one outing since he won the Great Northern Derby. With Concentrate, High Falujtin' and Toxeuma engaged, Red Heckle will have to stay well, and while most would have liked to see him have another run prior to the Trentham classic, the fact that Fred Christmas is satisfied with his condition bears some significance. i
