Blemishes
It is doubtful if there is anything more annoying to a woman who takes pride m her appearance than to be bothered by temporary disfigurements m the shape of pimples or blackheads. THE following simple remedies have * teen found very effective. For Pimples. — Apply spirits of camphor on cotton wool, or boracic powder, and the pimple will dry up. Usually a laxative is also necessary. •, For Blackheads. — After washing the face' with soap, and very hot water, apply a lotion made up of half a teaspoonf\il each of precipitate of sulphur, tincture of camphor, and glycerine, mixed with four tablespoonfuls of rose water. This is a skin lotion which man y doctors recommend. Freckles.— ln some quarters freckles are not now looked upon as a skin blemish and, m moderation, are considered quite becoming/ However, for those who fear them lemon juice is recommended as excellent for .bleaching- freckles. Mix with a little glycerine m the proportion. of two tablespoonfuls of lemon to one of glycerine and apply every night. Thin slices of cucumber rubbed into the skin are effective m some cases, and so is bathing the face m buttermilk.
