SOME ACTION IS WANTED
Northern Trotting Control Slips
(From "N.Z. Truth's" Special Auckland Representative). Just as certain as night follows day will trotting slip m Auckland if those m charge will persist m refusing to tackle the job of control as it should be tackled.
TT is certain that things are allowed to happen which are against retaining public confidence. There were performances at the A.T.C. summer fixture which hardly tallied with each other and "explanation accepted", continually was allowed to pass /muster. There were also some cases of very suspicious handling, some apparent direct interference, and some crossing. Yet nothing drastic happened m the matter of censure. It would seem that drivers and riders can rule the roost when asked to put their side of the case. Is it that those m authority cannot act, or that they do not know enough?
There is no consistency m trotting jurisdiction itself.. - If there was, Raima for crossing would have lost his race as Laplander did for alleged boring. Speedily but surely will the game drift to a very minor sport unless, those m charge realize the folly of their free and easy ways. The writing is on the wall that even some of the genuine sportsmen on the A.T.C. committee will eventually refuse to allow themselves to be connected with the sport unless something more is clone to protect the public. Matters appear to be going from bad to worse, and the army of punters at the trots certainly has not swollen as the result of doings at the A.T.C. summer fixture.
