KAWAKAWA

Small Fields Are Likely • (From "N.Z. Truths" Auckland Rep.) Racing enthusiasts m the far north will have a turn this Saturday when the Bay of Islands Club will hold "its annual meeting at Kawakawa. ACCEPTANCES are not available at the time of writing but the chances are the fields will be small. The Dansant/one of S. G. Lindsay's team, and Nankin Blue are likely ones m the novice class, wherein there are a number of unknown quantities. Alonsoa, Right and Left and The Thorn may be the pick of those m the Cup. The Thorn has been working freely and should get a stake at the meeting, as he is m shorter races also. There is a moderate crowd m the hack fields and form suggests Fancy Boy, Bombarder, Welcome Home (sold very cheaply a few weeks ago), British King and Exalted as the best prospects. British King was confidently backed at Takapuna m the spring on the strength of a good gallop, but failed. He will have a chance to make amends here. Nevertheless, if Bombarder and Fancy Boy are on the scene he will, find them difficult to beat. Bombarder is almost sure, to be there. If reserved for __ the County event, Sunny MorjVwill prove"very troublesome. He won twice m similar company at' Whangarei and also shaped^ creditably m the hack class at Ellerslie. Although getting old, Right and Left has a Gup chance and still better prospects m, the Ohaewai High -Weight. ; — BallyrriQy H. should be handy if started^] v the_.:shorf' races, as she can 7 still muster up some speed and the class is weak^ /
