TALE-TELLING
Jockeys' Names Are The Draw (From "N.Z. Truth's" Auckland Rep.) There is said to be m existence up north a follower of turf doings who is liable to get some jockeys into trouble if he is taken seri- . ously by those silly enough to lend a patient ear to his ramblings. THIS "Get-rich-quick Wallingford" has ■*■ the habit of "gabbing" that he can fix races, also 'that his selections have come his way so far. He is certainly not without experience at the racing game, and is therefore no fool at finding likely winners if there is any chance of sifting the oats from the chaff. Certainly, his tips have come his way so far, but if he has one spark of manliness about his frame he had better . refrain and leave jockeys' names out of his stories of frame-ups. By so " acting, he will be doing a justice to any horseman who wishes to make good by steering the straight path — the only road to success for any jockey m this part of the globe. The wonder is that sound business heads can be found to take m everything they are told as the gospel.
