White's Way
'THE road leading to the heights of 1 the legal profession is narrow and steep. To many yqung lawyers it presents a wearisome trail along which some have fallen by the way. Thus there is all the more reason for remarking upon the young career of Claude James Leslie White, of Dunedin. C.J.L. W. has attained a solid footing at the peak of his profession, and done it m double-quick time. Less than five years ago White was managing-clerk for an eminent city solicitor. Now, he can take his place alongside the big- wigs of criminal law. Seldom, m this country, do lawyers so young as Claude W., figure m murder trials, yot this bright little man has two such defences on his files. From his school-days at Otago High, White showed gpholiistic propensities which carried him through a Univerj sity career with marked success. Taking into account the fact that Claude Is a bFdther of H. E. White, the best-known playhouse architect m the southern hemisphere, the White parents have something of which to be proud.
