Siaosi's Form Over Hurdles

(From "N.Z. Truth's" Auckland Rep.) The initial public showing of Siaosi over hurdles at Avondale, where he finished second to Potoanui, left no doubt that the son of Elysian would make good over timber. And he has already done 8o - • •;■'.■ . ' ; ! OTILLi, the improvement shown m such a brief ' period from Avon-' dale, to Ellerslie, was nothing short of wonderful. . . ■ He has only to keep sound to turn out first-class. , - In the Trial Hurdles last week, Bowden took him out to the leading division early and with a clear view of the obstacles Siaosi fenced m great style. . Half a mile from home, ,the opposition were allowed to range alongside but clearing the second last obstacle the aged Te Awamutu gelding outjumped the rest. . From then on it was always Siaosi's race, though Potoanui was plugging on m determined fashion for second honors nearing the , winning post. It certainly looks as if Bert Russell's bad spell will be broken by the aid of Siaosi as a hurdler. ' l^o one will begrudge Bert a change of 'luck.' !
