Prospects In Trotting Events (By "The "Toff."), There are two trotting evenjs on Saturday's programme of the Ashburton County Racing Club. The Selma will be run over a mile and a-half and the Rakaia over a mile and a-quarter. AMONG the bunch ; engaged 'm ithe ** Selma Handicap are, several very promising maidens,- Stepfast> Umbsa, Little Author, Mountain Ore and Royal Wrack possessing big private reputations. Brown Admiral, too, is reported to have made a lot of improvement since he last raced. Provided the track is m good order, Royal Wrack, Mountain Ore and Ed- I wards' elect may go well. In,the Rakaia Handicap, Erin's Lynn and Our Bird will begin from the front mark, and on past efforts both pacers will be well suited by the journey. Awa-lti is m great buckle also.
