Wingatui's Crack
Youngster
(From "N.Z. Truth's" Christchurch Rep.) George Barton believes he has something above the ordinary m Gold Tinge and he is giving the Paper Money two-year-old an early opportunity of proving his worth. . \ THE two-year-olds at Wingatui this 1 season are a more promising lot than> has been seen for a long time, and Gold Tinge has stood out as , the '* best of a good lot. . In the two-year-old, parade at the Otago Hunt meeting he scampered away from the field m, the second division and his impressive performance Induced his enterprising owner to take on something big. Together with Narrative, Gold Tinge was booked to sail for Sydney; with Ces. Ware and he will contest the Breeders' Plate and other two-year-old races on the other side. Gold Tinge is a well furnished black gelding, nicely quartered and with a bold, free action, and though he has been billed for an ambitious programme so soon m life, his early essays suggest that he will hot be disgraced whatever company he meets. Narrative will congest minor races, while Puff, which has been sold to an Australian sportsman, will accompany the team across. Ware hopes to be back m time for the Wellington meeting m October. THERE are some optimists m this world. In all, £42 was invested on Star Stranger m the sprint at Marton. He did not possess a million to one show. JUDGING by the "displays seen at J Dannevlrke, New Plymouth and Marton, the hunters this winter are not worth feeding, - •'", .
