TO WANGANUI

Guineas Candidate Races There

(From "N.Z. Truth's" Auckland Rep.) Not by any means regarded as a, first-flighter by her connections,' Avon Court will contest 'hack ■ events at vWariganui this week. THIS is with a view to giving her the 1 necessary racing to fit her for the Avondale Guineas. The daughter of Lucullus more than paid her way as a two-year-old when the best were missing last season\ and it' will, be surprising if she fails to. come into the picture at some stage of her hack engagements at Wanganui. She is trained by Fred Gilchri3t, who would not venture so far away from his home at, Ellerslie unless there were some prospects. ■ . The .filly has wintered particularly well and been kept right up to solid work. • Avon Court is one which never makes really fast time on the track, but m her last effort, before leaving home gave quite as much encouragement as prior to any of her winning deeds as a juvenile. ' The northern fllly has only to win one race to qualify for open company. FOUR ON ENO DALE STAR has now won four races *■ .m a row, his latest success being scored at Marton. v To date he has not been tried out, for want of decent, opposition, but he is more than useful. ' ' Leo Goodwin has put a lot of time m with him and he deserves the run of successes. DISK, on the track at home, will do 1V anything, ; but on race day he refuses to carry out his task. He got round last week at Marton and ran second, much to the pleasure of "Curly" Gatrell. - - '■
