Taranaki Track Tattle
(From "N.Z. Truth's" Taranaki Rep.) T^HAT usually safe . conveyance, Waitanehau, came down at the first fence m the Hunt Cup at New Plymouth but he made amends two races later. Always well placed, B. H. Morris brought him along over the last halfmile of the Hunters' Flat to win comfortably. # # # Bay Dighton ran like a goat ln the Hurdles, but improved m the Hunters' Flat to pay Bob Pepperel, a useful second dividend. # * . » Inahman had every chance m the Hurdles, but was beaten by Plkimai on which M. Conway rode a well-judged race. # #' .# Looks as if Blago can be written oft!. He lead for the first mile m the Hurdles and then tailed back to third. In the Hunters' Flat, ridden In behind by Leo. George he finished fourth. # # # Young Webster's second and third on Passport were very popular. The ! numerous falls let Passport pay a great price. # # # Rillet had done some great track work and was considered unbeatable by Bob Barlow. She just missed a place. # * # Calapat and Calamine will make good. # » # Tangerine came from Stratford with a great reputation, but hardly lived up to it. Like his full-brother he does his best on the track before the race. # # * Whisogne finished with a great burst. He will be. heard of later.. # # # Kaka got away badly, but the Limond gelding finished well .enough to get third and when more seasoned will do better. #.. • * Miss Mercia flattered her supporters over six furlongs and then cried enough. #'# # . - Ernie George sent Oration to the post ln great nick and getting away well, his condition kept him m front all the way. # # # Partaga, however, kept him moving and a little longer up might have done the trick. Partaga will win racesv ' w » * Seastar ran an * honest race. The improvement noted last year is again evident. # * # Sagittarius will do better. #. * # Capt. Gazely went well. He will be right soon.
