Murdoch's Move
IT iS'/nbt every; County Couricir.that dan boast as its chairman a bar-
risterand solicitor, but the West-, land County Council can claim one m James A. Murdoch. ' ';.'. ■
This announcement will probably make other county 'clerks green with envy, for it is often the,ir unhappy lot to wrestle with mysterious subclauses of equally; confusing sections of the Local Bodies Loan Polls Act, highways regulations and all the other legal mysteries that plague the existence of local . bodies. But with a barrister as chairman, a county clerk should be on clover with an ever-handy source of legal wisdom to tap m moments of dire dilemma. James Murdoch, of Hokitika, and one-time Mayor of Kumara, is one of the big men of the Coast, much of whose spare time is devoted to giving service to the community. Jimmy Murdoch has given unsparingly of his seryices to Westland and has done a great deal to niake the town and district forge ahead.
Keeping abreast of the . times is a good motto these days — and Murdoch interprets it m terms of deeds, not words.
