Finlay 's Cheer

IT seems to be notoriously a fact that those who labor most under physical difficulties throw out to the world at large more of the human sunshine which should — though seldom does — radiate from those more happily placed. The strong-faced, though cheerful, figure of Harold Finlay m his wheelchair provides the pith of this argument. His physical weakness has been more than counter-balanced by Nature's admirable law of compensation. Doctor of science, musician, composer and research worker, Finlay has climbed into the academic niche looked on with hope -and despair by so many. Bat H.F., who, by the way, is president of the Dunedin Gramophone Association, is something more than studious. He is human — -every inch of him — and has that quality which men call "white." He was on research work m connection with shells m the South Seas some time ago and is a piscatorial expert. He is not indifferently ".liked," but generally popular wherever he goes:
