It is something unusual to find a jockey weighing in eight and a-half pounds overweight. VET Bert Rae informed "N.Z. Truth" A that this is what actually happened when he returned to claim second honors for Glenotus after receiving a ducking at the water-jump during the Onehunga Steeplechase at Ellerslie. Much of the extra poundage was accounted for by water which had collected in the hollow of Bert's artificial leg when he was deposited in the ditch.
