Mr H. Atmore, M.P., will remain in Wellington until the end of the week. Mr E. A. Tanner, assistant secretary of the Wellington Choral Union, is returning from Sydney by the Tahiti. The Hon. J. Barr. M.L.C., of Canterbury, has arrived in Wellington from the North. Mr Barr was one of the New Zealand representatives at the recent Empire Parliamentaiy Congress in Australia. Among the arrivals at Auckland by the Mahana from London yesterday Was Dr H. M. Munro, of Palmerston North, who is returning after five years’ medical service in England, where he gained a fellowship at the Royal College of Surgeons. A cardial reception was accorded to the newly-appointed engineer (Mr G. A. Hart) at last night’s meeting of the City Council by the Mayor (Mr C. J. B. Norwood) on behalf of the council as a whole. He was confident of the fact that Mr Hart would be accorded the support necessary for himself and hie department to function in the best interests of the city. Mr Hart, in rcply, acknowledged the hospitality that had been accorded him since his first arrival in Wellington, and hoped there Would be no cause for regret concerning his appointment.
