HOMING PIGEONS
AUCKLAND-WELLINGTON The Wellington Homing Pigeon Society held its weekly race last Saturday from Auckland, a distance of 308 miles airline. There were 15 lofts, with 57 birds competing. The birds were liberated at 8.52 a.m., being 35 minutes earlier than the previous week, which enabled some of them to time before dark, the first bird taking 9hr 28min 47see to do the journey. The results are:— Sir W, Ferkins’s pied cock (time arrived 6:36:47), Ist. Mr R. Lamb’s b.c.c. (6:36:53), 2nd. Mr J. H. Clark’s b.c.c. (6:37:7), 3rd. Mr J. Preist’s b.c.c. (6:57:27), 4tli. The race next week will be from Auck. land.
