UNUSUAL INCIDENT
MAUNGANUI STRIKES BLACK FISH.
AUCKLAND, November 23. A big black fish retarded the progress of the Maunganui yesterday afternoon When the vessel was qff Three Kings oh the voyage from Sydney to Auckland. Curiously enough the fish was caught on the stem of the vessel, and though split asunder it slowed down the speed of the ship by about two knots. In order to rid the vessel of its burden the engines were stopped for a short space and the fish fell from the bows as the way wak lost.
