AN APPRECIATION

To the Editor "N.Z. Tinges.

Sir,—On behalf of. the crew of the steamer, Tamaroa, which will be leaving for Lond.on in a day ok two, we desire to. expresse through the columns of your paper our sincere appreciation aiea thanks to the local officials of the Bpitish Sailors* Society for the very kind way in which they have entertained us during our stay in this port. The British Sailors; Society -is noted for its open-door policy for all sailors at its various sailors' rests throughout the world, and its Wellington branch is well in the front rank in; comparison with its other branches in regard to the hospitality and. good times provided for the visiting sailors, in fact none of us have had more enjoyable evenings on shore anywhere, than we have had provided for us here. Messrs Fadrann, Armstrong, Brown, and others, and the kind young ladies assistihg them have ■ indeed. mode our stay in this port quite a' pleasant one, aha we will look forward with pleasure to the time when we will be back again on the return trip. Those of us who have been here before were much impressed’.with the improved accommodation provided at the new rooms in Lower Cuba street, to. which the society has removed since our last These spacious rooms will enaffle the kind-hearted folk ministering to the religious and social needs of the' sailors to carry on their work to better advantage to us, and with more satisfaction to themselves. We thank them heartily for their kind hospitality, and wish them .every success in ,their voluntary good work,'and we will esteem it a great favour if you will kindly publish this letter of our appreciation.—We are, etc., G. WRIGHT, J. J. CHAMBERLAIN, G. JAMES, For the Seamen.
