MAGISTRATE’S COURT
YESTERDAY'S SITTING , SEVERAL THEFT CHARGES. Mr E. Page, S.M., presided at the Magistrate's Court yesterday, when the following cases were dealt with For resisting a constable in the execution of liis duty, James Shannon, a farm labourer, aged 48, was fined <£o, in default fourteen days' imprisonment. He was also ordered to pay 5s for damaging & pane of glass at the ' Taranaki street Police Station. A remand to to-day was granted in *h© case of Kenneth Guy, a young man in the employ of the Department of Agriculture, who was charged with having stolen postal notes worth 6s. Charged with breaking and entering thq tobacconist's shop of Angus Duncan, Lambton quay, by night, and stealing a number of walking sticks and razors and a quantity of cigarette cases and cigarettes, valued at «06 11s, Charles Goodwill, a hairdresser, aged 45, was remanded to appear on December Ist. Charged with having stowed away on the R.M.S. Tahiti at Papeete, Hong Choo,, a Chinese labourer, aged 26, was remanded to appear to-dny week. Edward May, Eric Jones, and Albert James Olsen were remanded to to-day oh charges of stealing rolls of silk ana serge, the property of Samuel Treister.
