Each club .j?ets half a point for the league’s junior teams 3 contest, the score being 3 all at the next six boards (7 to 12 inclusive). At the conclusion of the match Mr G. P. Anderson returned thanks for the kind welcome of the home teamfe president (Mr A. E. Ballard), and also for the hosptiality extended to the South Wellington representatives. Of the 20 matches played to date, the Working Men’s Club has won 11, the South Wellington Club has won 6, and three havo ended in a tie. WELLINGTON C.C. v. NGAIO C.C. The annual fixture between these two clubs was played at Ngaio on Tuesday last, when the visitors were very happily welcomed by Mr P. J. Brooker, the local president. Tho older club won comfortably, but the various games were very stubbornly contested. The score of the match was as follows: Wellington C.C. Ngaio C.C. E. A. Hicks * E. E. Hicks * G. Jones (Ngaio) was unable to attend, and Mr Wigham thus scored a win by default at board 2. Mr Wigham also won a specially-arranged game against F. Iv. Kelling, who is a life member of the Ngaio club. At the conclusion of the match Mr. Wigham voiced tho thanks of the city players for the Ngaio club’s generous hospitality. The evening was greatly enjoyed by both teams.
