THORNDON V. OLD BOYS

KORTLANG’S USEFUL INNINGS Thorndun and Old Boys tried conclusions on No. 1 wicket. F. Kortlang, captain of tiio former, won the toss, and elected to bat. Jn spite of the rain that fell during the previous night and early on Saturday the wicket played well, and the bowlers did not derive .any help from it. The early batsmen played very drearily, and it was left to the tail-enders to liven proceedings. Phillips, who opened up with Roberts, did not reign long, losing 'his wicket to a good catch by Jones in his fiist over. Roberts, 24. and Kortlang added 6f3 for the second wicket, and Mason, 29, helped his captain to put on 63 for the third.
