BADCOCK AND GRANT BOWL WELL Kilbirnie met Y.M.C.A. at the suburban ground on Saturday. Y.M.C.A. won the toss, and elected to bat, sending Westbrook and Smith to the wickets to face the bowling of Badcock and W. Christopherson. Westbrook, after hitting a four, was clean-bowled by Badcock. and he surrendered his place at the wicket to Grant. Before opening his account Smith followed Westbrook, his place being taken by Virtue, who scored 11 before being caught by Bramley off Badcock. M. Henderson joined Grant in a partnership, but the latter, after adding 22 was sent back to the pavilion by Armstrong off Badcock. Shortly afterwards Henderson was beaten by Christopherson, his total being 23. The next two. White and Brown, were both foolishly run out. McGirr was not long in before he fell a victim to Badcock. R. Henderson and Birch were together in a short partnership until Birch was stumped by Wilton. After compiling 9. Haughey, the last man in, was bowled by the invincible Badcock, leaving Henderson the not out man with L 4. At about 4.20 p.m. Kilbirnie commenced their first innings, Greig and Redmond opening the batting to the bowling of Grant and Henderson, but the latter was soon replaced by White. In White’s fourth over Greig. through hesitating, was dismissed from the wicket. W. Christopherson joined Redmond, who still continued to enlarge his score, until he was caught by Smith in the outfield off Browne. Sykes followed him to the wicket, but before he had a chance to score he was clean-howled by Henderson. It. Henderson and Smith opened up the batting for Y.M.C.A. in the second innings, hut stumps were drawn barely before two overs had been played. Following are the scores: ' Y.M.C.A, First Innings.
