ANOTHER MOTOR SMASH. SETTLER’S WIFE MEETS HER DEATH. A New Plymouth Press Association telegram states that Laura Anstord, wife of a settler at Omata, has died from injuries received in a motor-car accident near New Plymouth .yesterday morning. The car going down a hill swerved to avoid some cattle and fell over an embankment. Mr Ansford was uninjured, but his wife died on the way to the hospital. , MISHAPS AT GISBORNE. MAN KILLED BY FALLING WOOL BALE. A Press Association telegram from Gisborne announces ,that Frank Dayman, aged six years, was run over by, a. motor-car, and is in a serious condition. Philip Brooke Berry sustained a fracture of the spine by a fall of a bale of wool in a wool store, and succumbed to his injuries. ACCIDENT AT BIG GUN PRACTICE. I wind Victor Hugh Townsend, aged 36, a married man, living at Abbotsford torraeo, Devouport, is now lying at the Auckland hospital.
Only about 11 rounds had been fired, when the pin blew out, and Corporal Townsend was injured under the armpits and about the upper part of tho body. Tho accident happened at about a quarter past four. The corporal's injuries, though painful, are not serious. MAN'S HAND"CRUSHED. - A man named Clifford Morris, residing nt 12, Peru street, Kilbirnie. while working at-tho Empire Printing/Works, Adelaide road, yesterday had his Tight band caught in the machinery, which resulted in injuries to the fingers. Ho was admitted to the hospital. .MOTOR-CARS COLLIDE. A collision between a caa - , driven by Mr' G. Magnus, of Wellington, and a trap, driven by Mr Taylor,- of To Horo. occurred on the main road near Otaki on Monday (tvrites our Otaki correspondent) with the result that Mr Magnus had n rib broken.
