FILMS TO EDUCATE
A TRAVELLING CINEMATOGRAPH The introduction of the cinematograph into schools for educational purposes, which for a long time past has been considered by the Auckland Education Board, was advanced a stage on Thursday, when it was decided to ask the department to ' authorise an expenditure from the board’s funds of about £IOOO to provide a travelling cinematograph plant, and to find the necessary funds, about £7OO per annum. for the maintenance of the plant. A report from the educational films commitdtee was presented, giving details drawn up by Mr J. R. Penning with regard to a travelling demonstrating set of motion picture apparatus and equipment for lecture purposes. This included a motor truck, generating plant with accessories, and motionpicture machine, together with a dissolving lantern, etc., to-form one whole, self-contained plant capable of being taken by X'oad to any school under tho board’s control, and enabling a lecturer to illustrate and 'demonstrate any subject deemed advisable. The report was adopted.
