AGRICULTURAL COLLEGE
HAWKE’S BAY OR OTAKIt Mr W, H. Field, H.P., has written to the Makara County Council, enclosing copy of a letter ho had addressed to the Primp Minister on the subject of the attempt being made in Hawke’s Bay to alter the Government's determination to establish an agricultural college at Weraroa, and to place it in Hawlto’s Bay instead. It was stated by Air Field that strong efforts were being made to influence tho Government in. the direction as indicated, and it therefore behoved public bodies t and men in the Otaki district to secure the college for Weraroa, which undoubtedly offered the best site.
Tlie letter was discussed at yesterday’s meeting of the council, members stating that an amount was available from the. estate of Joshua Howard, in Hawke’s Bay, for the purpose of carrying on an establishment such as an agricultural college, and expressing the hope that the Government would bo doing the right thing in adhering to their decision in attaching the college to the Wcraroa Training Farm.
