NEW ZEALAND CONFERENCE. ' LOOKING TOWARDS THE FUTURE. rxs PRESS ASSOCIATION. CHRISTCHURCH, June 10. The annual conference of the delegates of the’ North" Canterbury brandies of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union opened this morning, Mr Jones, M,P.,, presiding. In his address he said that the past ’ season had been very satisfactory to producers. As to the future, they were faced with great congestion of wool and meat in the Dominion’, and wool'in Australia. It was decided that the' Government be asked to remove thq_,<iuty on imported - timbers, and differential railway freights; als-r that the Government be urged to. push forward with afforestation, especially in regard to quick-growing trees, -with a view to supplying the needs ..mf the dairy and fruit industries.
