MACKAY’S SENTENCE

THE REMARKS OF THE CHIEF JUSTICE. A Press Association message states that the recent telegram from Wanganui, reporting tho Chief Justice’s remarks in sentencing Alackuy, made him say it was an impulsive act, and ho is so reported in onh of the Wa* nganui papers, but not in the other. His Honour wishes to say that what he really said was that it -was not an impulsive act, basing his opinion on the fact that Mackay had placed tho pistol in Crcsswell’s hand after ho shot him.
