SCHOOL BOARD PENALISED
NONSUIT POINTS DISMISSED. PER PRESS ASSOCIATION. ' CHRISTCHURCH, June 8. . In connection with the recent case in which Hugh McLean Urquhart, a youth of fifteen years, claimed £IOOO for the loss of an eye by an explosion which occurred during an experiment in a chemistry class-room, and In which the jury awarded £BOO, counsel fpr defendants —the Ashburton High School Board—applied for a nonsuit on tho grounds that there was no evidence of negligence, and that tho relations of master and servant did not. exist between the hoard and tho teachers. To-day Mr Justice Herdman dismissed a motion for_ a nonsuit, and gave judgment for plaintiff for tho sum awarded by the jury, with costs.
