P. & T. CONFERENCE

'■PENS IN WELLINGTON TO-DAY. WAGES AND WAR BONUS QUESTIONS, A conference, consisting* of thirty representatives of brandies of the Post and Telegraph Officers’ Association from all over the Dominion, is to meet at the Oddfellows' Hall, Lambton quay, this morning. The president (Mr J. H Mackenzie, of .Hastings) in to preside, and it is anticipated that the conference will occupy in all about a week.

There is a lengthy agenda paper, but the most important questions to be discussed relate to the matters placed before the. Prime Minister by tbe P. and T. deputation some days ago, and in regard to which no reply has been received —(1) tbe demand for an increase in the basic wage to bring it up to the spending value of 1914: and (2) the still outstanding war bonus promised by Sir Joseph Ward. The question as to whether tho Press will be admitted has not yet been decided; but it is considered that, as in past years, the conference will be held in private and an official report will be supplied to the newspapers.
