Regarding a communication from the Mavor of Tauranga, the Wellington City Council has decided that it is not desirable that, funds of local bodies should bo applied to the erection of memorials.
By thirteen vote 3to twelve the Wellington Provincial Conference of the Farmers' Union decided to adopt tho following remit sent down by tlie Waikanae branch:—"That in view of the excellent results from the adoption of preferential voting in Australia, tho came system shall without further delay be' embodied in the electoral law of New Zealand."
