EPIDEMIC PRECAUTIONS
NEWTOWN COMMITTEE RE-
ORGANISES
Last evening, in the Newtown ’Public Library Hall, a meeting was held fox the purpose of reorganising the epidemic committee, originally formed during the recent visitation. Mr H. A. Parkinson presided over a very large attendance. Tho chairman stated that he had secured the services of Sister C. G. Lord, of Auckland, who is staying in Wellington for a short time. The only means of making preparation was by reorganising the committee formed during the epidemic, and he felt sure that by doing so he would be acting in the interests of the district. “The South Wellington Nursing Division will have forty women, who will be ready for service in any emergency,” said air Parkinson, “and that is good enough to say that a fresh epidemic would not get much of a hold in Newtown.” (Applause.) Sister Lord, who was received with applause, read the lull syllabus of the working order in relation to tho proper care and treatment of influenza, followed by the first of a series of lectures on “The Elementary Cara of the Sick.”
Mr Robin proposed a hearty vote of thanks to Sister Lord for her address, and this was carried by acclamation. The committee decided to invite the Newtown Women’s National Reserve to attend the class of lectures extending over a period of six weeks.
