From Our Own Correspondent. MASTERTON, May 16,
Mr T. Walsh, the engine-driver who met his death as the result of the railday accident at Taihape, was a former resident of Masterton, and was a son-in-law of Mr Scharnweber, of Mastferton. Mrs W. Tait, eldest daughter of Mr A. Thompson, of Carrington, died suddenly in Wellington yesterday. Mr S. D. Pearce, who has been manager for McQuier and Co., at Masterton, for over five years, has been transferred to the firm's branch at E eliding. Mr T. Flannery has been elected president of the Commercial and Farmers' Club, and Mr A. K. Johnston, secretary. At a public meeting last night it was decided to take steps to recognise the services of Mr and Mrs J. M. Coradine to the town.
