The big feature at the Catholic bazaar at the Sydney street schoolroom is the tug-of-war tournament, which ia attracting largo houses nightly. The weaker teams -having been disposed of in tho first round, the second-round contests are naturally more exciting. Last night a Petono team with a weight of 45sj> 12Ih defeated Fleming’s team (47st 131 b). Tiro pull was a good one, lasting fully five minutes. The second pull was even more exciting, Herlihy’s team (47st 121 b) pulled Marshall’s team (47st lorb). Ijnfortunately, two members of Horlihy’a team failed to turn up, and under the rules of tho contest, Marshall’s team won. Two very oven teams are matched for to-night’s contest, namely. Sergeant Wade’s team and Duffy’s team, and opinion is very divided ns to the result. Tho other pull will bo -Karon v. Clark’s team, immediately after this pull the draw for the semi-final on Wednesday night will take place. A special event to-night will bo the heavy-weight pull. A Petone team averaging IGst per man is matched against a Wellington team of about the same weight. A substantial prize has been given for this event. At 7.45 p.m. tho £5 nugget will be raffled.
