HOROWHENUA NOTES
(From Our Own Correspondent.) OTAKI, Thursday. News lias been received by cable that Privates Herbert Mitchell and Arthur Hall have been killed in action. The former is the third son of Mr Arthur Mitcheil, and the latter tho second son of Mr Archibald Hall, at ono time a well-known hotelkeeper. The takings at tho recent Rangiuru "shop” at Otaki amounted to over £OO. but the statement that has gained currency, that tho meat sales alone totalled half that amount, is incorrect. The various stalls all worked splendid]v, and are equally deserving of credit. ~ The Poarcy Cup contest yesterday was won by' A. Satherley’s rink, who defeated J. R. Bills’ rink by ono point.
