CHASING A KITTEN
LEADS TO SERIOUS RESULTS. Press Association, CHRISTCHURCH, February 23. J, Maxwell, second night porter at the United ’SSPvTce Hotel, narrowly escaped very serious injury yesterday morning;' After, coming' off duty at 8 a.m. he went on the roof in chase ■ of a kitten, in the course of which ho stepped on a glass skylight and fell a distance of about twelve feet on to a landing on the top floor, suffering injuries to the head and back, and cuts, necessitating his removal to the hospitaL Fortunately he did not step on to tho middle of the skylight. Otherwise he would have probably fallen to the landing of the first floor. The injured man, who is twenty-one years of age and was previously employed in a Dunedin hotel, is progressing satisfactorily.
