LORD LIVERPOOL
FINDS GREAT FAVOUR WITH SETTLERS. Special to the “Times.” WANGANUI, February 23. His Excellency Lord Liverpool has found great favour in the eyes of the settlors of Raetihi and Waimarino generally by attending their Agricultural and Pastoral Show. Mr Harris, president of the association, and Mr Smith, M.P., in welcoming their Excellencies, emphasised the fact that Lord Liverpool had put the mile peg further out than any of his predecessors,, and that he was tho first Governor to visit that district. It was also pointed out that , the people of the way-back settlements were as loyal and patriotic to King and country as those in the larger centres. < TU.q Excellency, in thanking the citizens for the loyal welcome extended to himself and the Countess, stated that they intended to see as much of this beautiful country, and as many of the people, as possible, and it was his great desire to further tho interests of the Dominion while living here, and also on hi« return to the Homeland. The visit of tho vice-regal party .was greatly apprecated.
