FIRE AT TAIHAPE
Press Association. TAIHAPE, February 21. Soon aftei 2 a.m. to-day a fire broke out in the kitchen of the Trocadero, n restaurant in Main street. Ihe building was rapidly engulfed in flames, •which spread to an adjoining shop, temporarily occupied by Semelou, with a stock of drapery, clothing, and boots. The back part was used as a residence by Murray, lessee. Both buildings ■were gutted. The brigade, helped by an excellent water supply, preventer! tho firo from spreading to the adjoinmg buildings on each side, which only suffered slight damage from heat and ■water. The occupants only had a few iminutes to escape, losing all thenproperty. Murray’s loss in books alone is £IOO. The buildings were owned by A. Kathan. Insurance —Buildings, £4OO each in the Sun; Murray’s furniture, £IOO in tho London, Liverpool, and Globe. Fortunately there wa> no wind or otherwise it would have been difficult to .save tho adjoining premises.
