MYSTERIOUS TRAGEDY
SUPPOSED MURDER AND ATTEMPTED SUICIDE.
MELBOURNE, February 18. A mysterious tragedy has occurred at Carlton, a part of this city, where a woman was found dead in the street, and near her a man with his throat badly cut. A razor was found alongside the man. On the woman was a handbag with a bank book in the name of “Alice Hunson.” . . The name of the man, who is m a precarious condition, is not known. It is supposed to he a case of murder and attempted suicide. THE VICTIMS IDENTIFIED. (Received February 18, 9.15 p.m.) MELBOURNE, February 18. In connection with the Carlton trafedy, the man has been identified as ames Rawlings, a labourer, and the woman as Alice Hudson, residing at Carlton. Rawlings has a chance of recovering.
