NEARLY DROWNED
Special to tie “Times.” WANGANUI, February 10. Mrs W. A. Bailey had a very narrow escape from drowning at Kawhatan. It ippears that she was bathing with other r ady friends in the river and got caught in a whirlpool. Mr Bailey happened to bo in close proximity, and hearing the cries promptly responded and effected the rescue of the drowning woman. Tho Rangitikei and Kawhatau rivers are well known for their dangerous whirlpools and undercurrents.
